Artist's Description

I love this old stone farmhouse and the wonderful trees that surround it. The late afternoon light makes the farmhouse glow! The hill town of Orvieto can be seen in the background.

Orvieto, sitting on its impregnable rock controlling the road between Florence and Rome where it crossed the Chiana, was a large town: its population numbered about 30,000 at the end of the 13th century. Its municipal institutions already recognized in a papal bull of 1157, from 1201 Orvieto governed itself through a podesta, who was as often as not the bishop, however, acting in concert with a military governor, the "captain of the people". About Marcia Socolik

Marcia Socolik

Alan and Marcia, Nevada residents, are avid photographers. Alan takes many photos while hiking around the area you will see some of his dramatic landscape photos in our portfolio. Marcia looks at things from a different perspective her photos are usually still life or photos of objects that she finds interesting or unique. Together, they present the eclectic display of photos which you see here. As you can see, Marcia is camera-shy - she would rather be behind the lens than in front of it.
